The big three declaration of december 1942 on the recognition of the independent albanian state and its future status
World War II is one of the greatest and important events in world history. In this context, Albania’s journey, featured by specific internal and external factors, went through a series of phases until the end of the War that dimensioned the outcomes of the war and the fate of its future status. The aim of this study is to explore the circumstances, factors, events and evolutions that led to the December 1942 Declarations of the United Kingdom, the USA and the BS, as the forces of the Anti-Fascist Coalition that influenced Albania’s position in further war events. The study relies on the methodology of recognizing and evaluating documentsof existing historical materials, conducting an objective and critical analysis, approaching both local and foreign archival sources, to come to objective analysis, interpretation and assessment of events at that time. The study concludes that the Great Powers, upon their Declarations, recognized the heroic struggle waged by the Albanian people and the contribution to the fight against fascism, as well as their right to live free and independent, but provided no settlement to the issue of post-war Albanian state existence.
