Traces of the prehistoric and ancient settlement in the Vojdulli area
This paper discusses a recently uncovered multi-layered settlement, whose remnants correspond to the prehistoric (early bronze, late bronze, and early iron) and late antiquity age. This settlement, located in the Vojdulli area, is quite notable for its high elevation and seclusion from other settlements of the same age. Archaeological research suggests that in many instances throughout the specified time periods, flat settlements were abandonment in favor of settlements with natural defenses, signifying a necessity for protection against invasions and conflicts between populations, indicating that the local inhabitants had valid reasons for selecting this quite a strategic area for habitation. These settlements, along with other similar settlements, served as temporary shelters for the population during times of danger. Additionally, they functioned as permanent settlements and, in certain instances, even as production centers.
